Who is John May and why does he need an army?

Update on Mark, our Danish-Canadian Comrade. Apparently he wandered in a drunken stupor to this bar about 2 km away...The Catz Pajamas. It's a 24 hour bar with no windows, so he ended up spending about 10 hours there, and got home in the mid-morning. He's fine. No harm, no foul.

In other news, we went to the Apartheid Museum today. It was really interesting, and I bought some souvenir's for folks back in the states. It is still unbelievable that Mandela was imprisoned for so long, but still held such a huge influence during his imprisonment. It's also horrible how the people in this country were treated for so long. Houses were straight up bulldozed without warning, and if you didn't qualify for government housing, you were screwed. Your ass was out on the curb, and you had to do anything and everything to help your family survive.

After the museum, we hit up the mall in Melrose Park for some dinner/game watching. Portugal v Ivory coast and pizza isn't a bad combo. I had a pizza with chorizo, roasted red peppers, fresh green pepper, onion, and fresh mint. Totally awesome. The game was great, but I wish Drogba would've buried one. He's amazing, that's all there is to it. Another happening at the restaurant.....American tourists giving Americans a bad name. These three HUGE BITCHES ordered extra sauces and extra cheese, then wanted to know why they were charged extra. They claimed that in America they don't incur charges for extra toppings, and that they should've been informed of the charges ahead of time. Ummmmm last time I checked, you get charged extra money for extra stuff ANYWHERE. Just expect the extra charge and pay it. It was pretty cheap anyways. Don't get indignant with the wait staff. To top off the situation, they could give a shit about soccer but are in Africa during the World Cup AND they asked for a to go cup for about 3 sips of champagne. Seriously, go back to where you came from. You're the kind of people that give Americans a bad name overseas.

The Korea DPR vs Brazil game was sweet. Brazil pulled out a victory with two pretty sweet goals, but Korea held their own. DPR scored a great goal late to bring the score to 2-1 against arguably the best team in the world. They played hard, and contested every ball. I was really impressed. Great ball movement and creativity from an underrated team.

To end the night, we shared college debauchery stories with the other folks in the house. Great laughs with some great new friends. Sounds like tomorrow we'll all be catching the late game at Catz Pajamas.

Grandilla might be my new favorite fruit.

Lion Park tomorrow. Awesome Twosome.

  1. Grandilla juice there is awesome. It has all the fleshy pulp in the bottom of the jar/carton. Definitely good stuff. Everyone there refers to papaya as paw paw, which I thought was interesting because here paw paw is a completely different fruit. I was definitely always pleased by how many non carbonated options their convenience stores and gas stations offered. Not just sports drinks, but a rather wide variety of juices.
