We headed to the Soccer City stadium today to see Netherlands v Denmark. All game awesomeness aside, in the bathroom there was a basket of condoms. At the end of the game there was no toilet paper left, so most people were using tissues. Well, in fact, some girls were taking the condoms, sticking their hands inside, and wiping. You can't make this up.
Budweiser and Coke are the official drink sponsors of the World Cup. Awesome for Coke, TERRIBLE for the Bud. And Bud Heavy is the ONLY beer available. No choice at all. And no vendor can sell any other type of beer within 5 miles of the stadium. Gross. I am currently drinking a Castle Lager, the Bafana Bafana Player Series with midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane on the can. It's pretty delicious. I also got some draft Grolsch at this huge shopping center that had megatrons of the Italy v Paraguay game. So I guess I can get over having some Heavy today...almost.
